Design and manufacture of a box for the transport of aircraft rotor blades

For this project, we were tasked with designing and manufacturing a box for road transport of aircraft rotor blades. This was a particular challenge, as the case had to meet the stringent stability and safety requirements for transporting the delicate components.

Designing the transport case

The first step was to thoroughly understand the technical specifications and our customer’s requirements for transporting rotor blades. Aircraft rotor blades are precise and delicate components that require special handling. Therefore, our design team focused on creating a chest that would not only provide adequate protection, but also stability during transport.

The box was designed to keep the rotor blades in the correct position. To this goal, we developed a special internal structure that ensured that the blades were immobilised and protected from any movement. This structure was a key element of the design, as any movement of the blades could lead to damage.

Manufacturing the box

Once the design was approved by the client, we proceeded to manufacture the chest. The case was made from high quality wood, which ensured its strength and durability. The internal structure was designed to conform to the shape of the rotor blades, ensuring that they remained stable.
