Shrink wrapping is a frequently used procedure that enables machinery, equipment and other items to be protected relatively quickly and tightly for transport by road, sea and air, as well as for storage.
Shrink foil, as the name suggests, shrinks when exposed to temperature to form an airtight barrier sealing off the packaged item from external factors, and machinery and equipment packed in this way looks aesthetically pleasing. Shrink packaging protects against moisture, sunlight and dust.
However, shrink wrap is not the standard recommended procedure, as it does not protect the equipment from mechanical damage.
Shrink wrapping is most commonly used when protecting large devices. This option is recommended when packing large tanks and other bulky items. VCIs, or volatile corrosion inhibitors, are then also frequently used.
