Pakowanie do transportu - Relokacja maszyn i urządzeń

Packing oversized items is one of the biggest logistical challenges faced by companies around the world. In one of our recent assignments, we had the pleasure of working on an assignment that has gone down in history as a masterpiece in the field of oversized packaging. The task involved the safe packaging and preparation for transport of two industrial furnaces, each of which weighed an impressive 115 tonnes and measured 15 metres long and 5 metres wide. This was a project that presented unique challenges, both in terms of scale and technical requirements.

The basics of successfully packing oversized goods

A key element in the success of packing such large and heavy items is the careful planning of how the oversized item is to be packed and the selection of materials that will be used for this task. To this purpose, we built a special platform directly on the customer’s site, which was reinforced with plywood. These materials were chosen for their strength, which was essential for the safe transport of the furnaces. Then, in order to provide comprehensive protection against external factors such as rainfall, we created an additional wooden structure in the form of a truss, also reinforced with plywood. The entire structure was covered with a protective tarpaulin, secured with drawstring straps, which guaranteed reliability and safety during the long journey to the port. The work at the customer’s site took four days, and as a curiosity, we used 90 plywood panels to prepare these structures.

Challenges and solutions in large-scale packaging

Packing the large-scale industrial furnaces was not without its challenges. One of the biggest was ensuring the stability and safety of the machine during transport. Thanks to our experience, we were able to develop a method that not only protected the furnaces from mechanical damage, but also protected them from moisture and other weather conditions. We adopted a detail-oriented approach, which allowed us to successfully adapt to the customer’s specific requirements and expectations.

Close cooperation with the client also proved to be a key to success. Thanks to open communication, we were able to react quickly to any unforeseen situations, which contributed significantly to the smooth and timely completion of the project. Due to their size, the furnaces were transported by dedicated transport, assisted by as many as six pilots, to the port for their onward overseas journey.

This case study demonstrates that with the right preparation, experience, it is possible to achieve success in the most demanding large-scale packaging projects.
